About Us

Preston Counselling Associates are a group of experienced Counsellors and Psychotherapists who provide support for a wide range of issues. We work with a variety of clients in Preston and the surrounding area. We are individually registered and/or accredited by BACP (the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), abide by our governing body’s code of ethics and good practice, and are enhanced DBS certified.

Cheryl Cheryl accreditations

Cheryl

Cheryl is a highly experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. She has worked full-time in private practice since 2009 with both private clients and EAPs. Cheryl has particular experience in  education, couple therapy, bereavement/loss, stress, anxiety and depression.  She works extensively with a number of EAPs, employers and organisations, including Schools, Colleges and Universities, with both young people and staff. She is a BUPA Recognised Mental Health Therapist and enhanced DBS certified. Cheryl offers person-centred, integrative and CBT therapy, through Zoom, FaceTime or Skype.

Cheryl is also an experienced Supervisor who clinically supervises the work of other therapists, wellbeing, education, caring and healthcare professionals through her Supervision Practice in Preston and Cheltenham. She holds a Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Supervision.

Sam Sam accreditations

Sam

Sam holds a Masters degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and is a BACP registered Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor. She has experience working with a wide range of issues including addiction, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, depression, stress, cancer, bereavement and loss, bullying, low self esteem, relationship and sexual issues and domestic and sexual abuse. In addition, Sam offers specialist experience in working with disability and difference, having worked extensively with a national disability charity. Sam’s research interests are in the areas of menopause, developmental psychology and attachment theory. She offers specialist experience on menopause and life transitions and works with the psychological impact of menopause using CBT and Integrative theories.

Before counselling, Sam worked for blue-chip companies in London, gaining a solid understanding of the corporate world to complement her counselling skills. Her Integrative approach enables Sam to tailor her work to meet the individual needs of her clients.

Stan Stan accreditations

Stan

Stan is a highly experienced BACP accredited counsellor, who specialises in video and telephone based therapy. He holds an MA in Counselling and a BA in Psychology among other relevant qualifications. Stan’s experience ranges across settings including private practice, Universities, GP Surgeries, EAPs and addiction/rehab services. He is also a registered trainer. Stan works with a wide range of clients and issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, abuse, self esteem and attachment, among others. His research interests include developing addiction services for those affected by military service.

Stan has trained in a number of different Counselling traditions and draws on this to work in an integrative way, tailored to each client. He ensures that every client is at ease with the process before starting their journey towards meaningful change.

Sue Sue accreditations

Sue

Sue is an experienced BACP accredited counsellor who has worked extensively as a counsellor and therapist within NHS settings and continues to work within the NHS alongside her private practice work. She has particular expertise and experience in working with children and young people, both in School environments and in her private practice work. She works with a wide range of clients of all ages, with issues including anxiety, trauma and PTSD, stress, depression, self-harm, low self esteem, relationship issues and abuse. Sue works flexibly with her clients using traditional face to face therapy, video-based sessions or ‘walk and talk’ telephone sessions.

Sue’s approach is rooted in the person centred tradition, but she also works with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and incorporates elements of other traditions such as Mindfulness into her work, which she tailors to each clients needs. Sue is also an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) trained therapist.
